University of Pennsylvania Research Study
Exploring Our Most Basic Impressions of the World
What is this study about?
This research study aims to explore how individuals generally think and feel about the world. We hope to learn more about how people think so that, eventually, we can help people live better and more fulfilled lives.
Who can take the survey?
This survey is open to all Americans and non-Americans, age 18 and older, who live in the United States or U.S. territory. You may only complete the survey one time.
What will I be asked to do?
You will be asked to answer a series of questions about how you see the world and some other basic questions about yourself. The questionnaire will take approximately 25 minutes to complete. You are in control of your participation. In order for your data to be used, you must answer every question, but you are welcome to leave the survey at any time. Also, there are a certain number of questions in the survey that are there to check to see if participants are paying attention. In order for the data to be used, these must also be answered correctly. But don’t worry. If you read all instructions and questions, it will be no problem.
Are there any risks to me?
This study poses no more risk than that encountered in everyday life.
Are there any benefits for me?
You might find the survey enjoyable, or gain some new insights from it. Furthermore, this research is part of a research project that may be used in the future to help individuals such as yourself better understand themselves and live in ways that lead to greater well-being.
Will I be paid?
You will not be paid for taking this questionnaire.
How will confidentiality be maintained and my privacy be protected?
Your name will never be saved/stored with your responses. All electronic data will be kept on a secure network and accessed via a secure computer. Data will likely be included in written reports for the Penn Psychology Department and possible publication, but your name and/or identifying information will never appear in these reports.
